ChainThink report, October 11, according to insiders, the European Union will cooperate with the United States to develop a new plan to implement the next phase of their trade agreement, aiming to put aside Washington's proposal - which requires the EU to revoke some regulatory measures that Trump has long criticized. Insiders said the current idea is to develop a "checklist" to ensure the agreement remains on track and to move forward within the parameters set by both sides this summer.
Earlier reports stated that at the beginning of this month, Washington requested Brussels to revise several technical, digital, and corporate environmental laws, which EU officials considered too stringent to serve as a starting point for negotiations. The EU said it is prepared to discuss these issues and address concerns, but will not give up its regulatory autonomy. According to insiders, after last weekend's meeting between EU Trade Commissioner Vondra and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, Brussels decided to put aside these requests and instead develop a new checklist.
