ChainThink report, September 29, according to data disclosed by Kobeissi Letter, central banks around the world have cut interest rates 168 times in the past 12 months, making it the third-highest number of rate cuts this century. The peak of the previous cycle was 196 rate cuts over 12 months after June 2020.


After the 2008 financial crisis, global central banks cut interest rates as many as 249 times within 12 months ending October 2009.


Although the Federal Reserve was one of the last central banks to join the rate-cutting trend in this cycle, it is expected to cut rates twice more by the end of the year, indicating that the Fed is joining the shift in global monetary policy focus.
