ChainThink Financial News reports that the Office of the Governor of California announced that California has surpassed Japan and risen to become the fourth largest economy in the world. According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the United States, California's nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached 4.1 trillion USD, exceeding Japan's 4.02 trillion USD, ranking only after the United States, China, and Germany. At the same time, California's economic growth rate has also surpassed the top three global economies; over the past four years, California's economy has continued to grow strongly, with an average annual nominal GDP growth rate of 7.5% between 2021 and 2024.
